A PETITION
We, a group of Uzbeks, write this petition with
the following aim:
Ever since 9 June 2010, thugs of Kyrgyz descent
have been engaged in an attempted ethnic cleansing of residents of Osh and
Jalalabad provinces who are of Uzbek descent. Several thousands of well-armed
Kyrgyz thugs have massacred defenseless Uzbeks, savagely murdering children,
women, and elderly people and raping women. The dead, even the living, have
vanished. Those who are alive but missing include children. Uzbek homes and
property have been looted and burnt down. 70 percent of the city of Osh has
been destroyed. The homes that were burnt down belonged only to Uzbeks. In
videos and photos of the events, we have seen gangs of thugs massacring their
chosen targets and witnesses. Those who participated in the massacre of unarmed
Uzbek include officers from the Kyrgyz military and police. Therefore, we
assume it was the Kyrgyz military that provided the Kyrgyz thugs with arms.
The women, children and elderly people who were
targeted in this ethnic cleansing have been forced to run for their lives to
the border, carrying what little they had left with them. More than 400,000
Uzbeks have been displaced. In June 1990 people of Kyrgyz ethnic descent also
killed people of Uzbek descent, destroyed Uzbek homes and property, and engaged
in criminal acts against them. We have video of these crimes from 1990. The
people who committed these crimes in 1990 have not yet been held accountable.
Ever since 9 June 2010, the interim government of
Kyrgyzstan has taken a one-sided look at the ethnic cleansing that has taken
place. The Kyrgyz media have blamed Uzbeks for this tragedy and have openly
spread slanderous information. Human rights activists who provided photos of
the thugs of Kyrgyz descent who participated in this wide-scale massacre,
including members of the police and the armed forces, have been arrested and
tortured. We ask that the United Nations International Court of Justice consider
the criminal acts of 9 June 2010 in Osh and Jalalabad provinces to be acts of
genocide and ethnic cleansing against Uzbeks. We are attaching videos, photos
and other documents which prove that this was genocide against the Uzbek
people.
